Burberry + Beauty =…
Burberry decided that D&G are not the only smart pals in the fashion industry to introduce their first line of make-up to the market and has put its own line in production. So, ladies be aware of the freshly prepared Burberry eyeshadows and blushes this summer as the products hit the shelves of the flagman Burberry boutiques in July 2010!
(my only concern is that their signature color palette inscribes into the beauty collection)
Lipstick for men – NARS
First I want to say that I am 100% pro-gay, I think that everyone has the right to choose: whether it’s their choice of food, cloths or sexual orientation. It’s really none of my business who loves whom… I mean if you like guys it’s fine with me either you are a girl or a boy!
On the other hand, I think that there is some extend to which I can understand how the male/female image changes over time! What I mean by that is, indeed, this “new” tendency to switch identities – when women try to mimic men and otherwise. Let me explain what I wan to say in some more details.
According to me (and I think that my interpretation is the common one), there are certain stereotypes which are associated with either of two sexes, something like girls wear pink and boys – blue. These days people tend to break as many stereotypes as they possibly can – the perfect example is men wearing high heel shoes (and no, these shoes were not meant to be man’s shoes, they are from woman’s collections). I don’t want to judge people, I love freedom of expression – you can wear what you want and where you want! But sometimes the whole identity swap just gets to me – like the ad campaign for 15th anniversary of cosmetic brand Nars where Marc Jacobs appears wearing red lipstick and nail polish… This is still not clear in my head… You people are so uncomfortable in the skin they are in??? (Does it ring the bell?) May be there will be time when I will get it but not now! I respect people who can shine through the stereotypes and don’t cross the boundaries of ridiculousness…

Neutrogena Wave Duo
By my early twenties I have already come to a conclusion that the beauty products are the last things on which I can economize! I love L’Occitane honey and milk scrub, Shiseido wet clothes – they come in handy when I travel or go out and can’t carry a full bottle of toner. What else? I can’t live without a bottle of Caudalie’s grape water- it’s great in early mornings when I need a wake-up call or when I travel South, meaning the sun exposure. And of cause, Complexe aux Résines Tropicales combined with Soin Teinté Phyto-Hydratant (all by Sisley Cosmetics) as a daily moisturizer and “foundation”(which is, in fact, a moisturizer as well only with a hint of color). I admit that all these products are not cheap (some of which are far way from being even moderately priced!) – but what can I do! I am picky and want the best for my skin!
However, I was pleasantly surprised on my last trip to the near grocery store when I treasured an amazing product out of the cosmetics isle! I must say thanks to my mum (yes, she is my steady companion to that store!) because it was her who pointed to this novelty to me. So – thank you, mum!
Neutrogena is one of the few “grocery-store” cosmetics that I still rate. Now to the product itself – it’s called Neutrogena Wave Duo. This is some sort of a machine with exfoliating pads. It’s got 2 speeds – one for everyday use, the other one (higher speed) is for the more intense level of cleansing. The appareil is small and very easy in use. The price is great ~ $17 plus extra pad refills for ~ $15. I don’t know if it will last too long but it’s a great change to my nightly routine! I am quietly lazy, so now on, all the work will be done by “power-cleanser”!

Penhaligon’s
Penhaligon’s is a perfume house established in 1870 in England. I heard a lot about the fresh scent, Bluebell but never had a chance to experience it myself. I usually don’t write about things that I haven’t seen, touched, tried, worn or used. All this to say that on the official Penhaligon’s website anyone can request a catalogue which apparently arrives in couple of days, so I requested it maybe 4 days ago. Now I am waiting for it to come… hopefully this catalogue will convince me to purchase one of their fragrances ( they do international delivery which includes Canada, USA and Europe).

The Clutch Kit.
Here are some of the novelties from cosmetics and beauty industry which are irreplaceable in your clutch:
– Yves Saint Laurent Palette Y ($62 at sephora.com) from the new fall’s collection attacks both problems of complexion: it perfects your skin tone and freshens your face with light blush. But don’t wait, Palette Y is a limited edition which usually flies away from the beauty counters in seconds!
– This Bobbi Brown lip crayon ($22 for one or $50 for the set of 3) has such a smooth textured that it can easily substitute for lipstick or lip gloss. As the bright side it does not leave stains and is much bigger than the usual lip pencil. On the official web site it says that they are back by popular demand and that there are 6 amazing colors to choose from! What I love about lip pencils (especially the ones which can be worn solely as a lip-stain or lipstick) is that they are so easy to apply. Strongly recommend when you have no time to do you make up in the morning.
- Josie Maran Argan Oil now has the new format – moisturizing stick. It’s compact, will never leak (comparing to pure liquid oil) into your clutch. This stick relieves the symptoms of dry skin and nourishes tired skin due to it’s all natural ingredients. I choose it since I can conveniently use on my lips, cheeks, forehead or anywhere I have a sunburn or just an dry and itchy skin! ($22 at sephora.com)
– This Guerlain product is just amazing for those who love natural blush on their cheeks. This is a liquid blush (yes, I said liquid), all you need to create a radian glow on your face is one drop on each cheek! It’s called Russian Doll and comes in format of 15ml/0.51oz and retails for $42 at sephora.com! Well, because it is a limited edition – you better be heading to you closest store to get your hands on this one!

Fragrance For Fall. Des Conseils.
Fragrance For Fall.
Des Conseils.
Whenever I pick a perfume I consider two things (don’t judge me on this one) its rarity and the way it makes me feel. The second feature is the most evident one – once I sprinkle it on my skin, I can tell right away if it suites me or not. The other one is that I care about – scarcity of the perfume, the fact how hard it is to find this specific fragrance. May be I can explain my passion for the rare fragrances by the fact that globalization (and no, I am not going into economical problems of the modern world) makes the perfume industry to be so affordable and easily accessible by anyone around the globe. Straight to my point – uniqueness is the key! I need something which is relatively well priced (considering the budget of an university student) and which has the rarity factor.
Well, the problem has been set, now it’s time to figure out how to find the perfect solutions. First my attention caught English luxury perfume house of Creed with its history and Royal customers. It has a great range of fragrances for any tastes and occasions (din-din a perfect gift for someone special). However I would agree that perfumes’ (and I am not talking about Millésimes here) prices do bite a little bit (bottle of 30ml is roughly $150) but at the end it worth it 200% until the last drop. This fall when it will be cold and wet outside, Creed’s Spring Flower will remind me of those days I spent on the beaches of Ibiza this summer. The second perfume is by Dior, you’d probably say how rare it could be? Interestingly, Dior decided that the only place where you can purchase a bottle of Dior Forever and Ever is at European duty free boutiques. This fact is rather disappointing but at the same time it makes this fragrance to be quite rare (for those who don’t travel so often) plus the lack of advertisements adds to its uniqueness. So it is the perfect perfume for me – notes of Freesia petals, water jasmine, rose, vanilla and musk. Just for your information the bottle of 50ml Eau de Toilette is 42€ (~$62).
These are couple of those fragrances which worth your investments (or at least considerations) this fall.

MY GOLD
MY GOLD
Yet another interesting find from the industry of
perfume – the new fragrance from Spanish house of
Ramon Molvizar – “SUN”. The top olfactory notes of
bergamot, ginger and lemon bring the sense of warm summer night near the
ocean. The middle and base notes resemble a walk in the Mediterranean
garden – rose orchid, lotus, jasmine, exotic woods and sugar cane. However
it’s the particles of pure gold inside the bottle that bring the most attention.
That’s why using this perfume you will leave golden veil on your skin! But
don’t be surprised by the price – bottle of 100ml is $460!

LES VOYAGES OLFACTIFS DE GUERLAIN.
The new fragrances from Les Voyages Olfactifs line de Maison Guerlain are dedicated to three of the world’s most stylish capitals: New York, Moscow and Tokyo. All three scents have been specifically designed to recreate the unique atmosphere of each city.
Paris-Moscou: Fruity-Boisé version has notes of absinth, vanilla and plum which must represent Moscow restaurants. White musk, jasmine and very sensual currant stand for Russian boutiques. Pine scent illustrates pines on the Red Square. This combination must represent Moscow as Parisiens see it with its busy lifestyle and feminine allure.
Paris-New York: Boisé-Asiatique version invites on Manhattan, in winter, to the New Year Tree with its bergamot and cedar aromas – the light fresh breeze. Cinnamon and cardamom create the sense of holiday heat and Christmas warmness.
Paris-Tokyo: Flowery-Green version is a history of Japan: light walk in the imperial garden near calm ruisseau – notes of viola and cypreses. When jasmine and green tea illustrate the tea ceremony.
The bottles of the three perfumes were designed by Serge Mansau and have the volume of 250ml each, their price is around $250-280.
